500 days of summer inspiration photoshoot

the fabulous jen from green wedding shoes made an inspiration board a ways back based on the movie '500 days of summer'. it was darling and inspiring, and serendipity magazine jumped on it and asked a team of wedding magicians to put together a shoot for their summer issue. there's lots of controversy amongst the bloggers/blog readers about these sorts of shoots. my thoughts: who cares? as long as full disclosure is given that this isn't a real wedding, i think it's just another source of ideas for brides/grooms to-be and a great creative outlet for wedding talent. it was tons of fun for me to photograph a couple styled to perfection with none of the constraints that a wedding day brings. and the stylists/design talent that put together everything else got to do so without having anyone but themselves to please....what could possibly be bad about that?! complete creative freedom without the pressure of a wedding day equals FUN! here's what we came up with.... (by the way, although this couple is gorgeous, they are not professional models, nor are they an actual couple....that makes me especially proud of them for doing such an incredible job as our "models"). enjoy! xoxo

The photography is beautiful. The problem with these sorts of shoots is that there isn't full disclosure by some of the photographers that have started to post styled shoots looking like weddings. I suppose that's their prerogative, but it does confuse the viewers. Thank you Sarah for at least mentioning the issue.

thanks everyone! cindy, i totally agree: when it's not stated up front that it's a styled shoot and not an actual event it sets unrealistic expectations and is completely misleading. i don't think it's the creative styled shoots that are the problem, i think it's the bloggers/photographers who are posting without full disclosure that have caused all of the controversy and given them a bad name! :)
